If the Resizer complains that it's running out of memory, the image you're trying to resize is probably too detailed. Scanning at a high resolution (or DPI) can easily cause this. Turn off 'Scan Automatically' in the Resizer's File menu, start scanning, then lower the DPI to 300 or less.
